Retirement Resource Center

Retirement Resource Center

The “Retirement Resource Center” is an educational program sponsored by Lifetime Planning, Inc. We started the center July 1, 2008 because of the great need for financial education for those approaching retirement or who have already retired.

Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to educate 500 local families regarding basic financial concepts during the first year of operation of the Resource Center.

The Need

The baby boomer generation is on the cusp of retirement. Everyone is trying to sell them something, but almost no one is listening to them. According to a recent survey, the vast majority of baby boomers feel they are unprepared to retire. There is a tremendous need for fundamental financial education.

Some typical questions are:
1.      What is the difference between a stock and a bond?
2.      What is a mutual fund? An annuity?
3.      What are the types of investment risk and how do you deal with them?
4.      What happens to my 401k after I retire?
5.      How much do I need to be able to retire?
6.      How much can I safely withdraw from my accounts?
7.      What can be done to make sure my money lasts my lifetime?
8.      What changes when you are no longer saving for retirement and begin to spend your investments during retirement?
